Dear Just Homes Community,
It was five years ago under the leadership of Wally Adeyemo and The District Church that Just Homes became a ministry dedicated to mobilizing churches to address the affordable housing crisis in DC.
Shiri Yadlin was a part of that initial working team that helped research the challenges we face in our city and then became the Director of Just Homes as we became a formal ministry.
Shiri has faithfully served in this position for almost five years, helping to shape and implement the vision of this ministry and build a coalition of churches dedicated to housing justice. She wrote a book on the issue and has trained hundreds of people in the DC faith community on the need for housing justice in DC and the ways to get involved. She has helped advise many affordable housing projects being done by churches throughout the city. And most importantly has helped bring the heart for this work to each of us. She has inspired us in the Just Homes community to join in God’s redemptive work to create a more just city, not only in the area of affordable housing but in all aspects of our lives.
Shiri recently took a position at Corporation for Supportive Housing as a Senior Program Manager where she will continue in this work around affordable housing by working to improve and expand supportive housing systems to combat homelessness. She will still be based in DC and will continue championing the work of Just Homes and offering her educational workshops.
The District Church remains committed to the work of Just Homes as we seek to continue to live out our commitment to being “a church for the city.” We are now looking for our next full-time Executive Director who can help lead Just Homes into this next season to help make sure that DC is a place where everyone can thrive by addressing the urgent need for housing and understanding the unique role local churches can play.

Shiri Yadlin is the Founding Director of Just Homes. Shiri was part of The District Church Working Team that researched and built the vision of a justice housing initiative that became Just Homes. When TDC formally launched Just Homes in November of 2017, Shiri came on staff to oversee the implementation and development of the new initiative. Shiri’s career began in direct social services, where she spent her days walking alongside people experiencing homelessness to build relationships and pursue wellness. She received a Masters in Public Policy at Georgetown University, with a special emphasis on housing and homelessness policy. Shiri grew up in Southern California, relocated to the East Coast in 2008, and is grateful to call DC her new home since 2013.
In May 2022, Shiri took on a position as Senior Program Manager with Corporation for Supportive Housing. She continues to pursue housing justice through her work on supportive housing programs to combat homelessness.
