DC residents hear a lot about the “affordable housing crisis.” But is this a crisis? As we unpack some of the numbers that describe the District’s current housing landscape, we’ll see that Washington, DC is facing a severe and urgent lack of housing affordable to low-income communities. We’ll also see that this crisis is more than economic: It has critical racial and cultural components that require our attention.
